‘Showing Success’

While the Newhaven team don’t focus on showing animals (they have to be taken in from the paddock straight to the show ring if we do – no tolerance here for ‘prettying up’ or ‘show feeding’ of sheep)!. We were delighted however that a current sire ram received high accolades at the Canterbury A & P Show held this month (November 2011) in Christchurch. This ram made history, for being the first Perendale ever to win the ‘All Breeds Supreme Champion for Woolled Sheep’ Trophy – which is usually the domain of the Merino or Corriedale breeds. A real coup for the Perendale dual -purpose breed, and proof that Newhaven remains to place importance on the key physical attributes of a pure Perendale.
