Newhaven Farms Sustainability

David Ruddenklau and Jane Smith were recently asked to profile their thoughts on film regarding the planning and implementation of tree planting – for aesthetics, soil and pasture conservation and animal shade and shelter.

With over 50,000 trees now on the Newhaven properties, this is a stark contrast to what the landscape was like in the 1970’s, which could be termed as bleak, especially during times of drought. This has been an intergenerational programme that we are all very proud of and was set in place by David and Robyn, with the momentum continued on by Blair and Jane. The environment that our sheep and cattle are bred and raised in is very important to us, and is something that we strive to continually enhance.
