Perendale Showcase at Newhaven

Newhaven Focus Day Tour

Newhaven Focus Day Tour

May 20th marked the 7th biennial Newhaven Perendale Client Focus Day – this time held at the Newhaven hill block base at Five Forks. The weather certainly played it’s part to allow everyone full vision of the Newhaven farm tour (and the Kakanui mountain range) with snow making an appearance only 12 hours after the field day finished.

After an update from the Newhaven team, guests were entertained and informed by a variety of speakers including;

Richard Thorp, Chief Operating Officer of NZ Binxi (Oamaru) Foods on the meat industry model that Oamaru Foods Limited has rolled out successfully to farmers, Dr. Dave Robertson (Sheep and Beef Vet of the Year 2015), Neil and Rose Sanderson (Fossil Creek Angus Limited), Tony and Trudy Boyer (Mount Monmot Perendales, Victoria, Australia) and Travis Thomson (My Kitchen Rules contestant 2015).

Guests are both fed and entertained to their full capacity at Newhaven

Sir Geoffrey Peren Honour

Newhaven Perendales was recently contacted by the Palmerston North City Council to assist them in their request for some robust looking Perendale sheep to star in a sign that was being installed at Peren Park , to celebrate the huge contribution that Sir Geoffrey Peren has made to the New Zealand sheep industry that we know today.

We were honored to take part in this, and at Newhaven we have a special connection to Sir Geoffrey, given his contact with David in the early days of the Newhaven Perendales establishment – click here to see the letter that Sir Geoffrey wrote to David in the 1970s
