Blair’s love of outdoors and analytical mind combine well for his involvement in the Newhaven stud operation. Blair’s background in both practical farming (growing up on a sheep farm in Southland) and logistical management (ten years in the rural transport industry) bode well for the operational overseeing of Newhaven Farms. Blair enjoys that fact that the despite having a stud tag in their ear – each and every stud animal has to perform and excel in the harsh commercial conditions that the Newhaven hills can serve up.
Jane has what can only be described as an obsession with agriculture which has been apparent from a very young age, and feels very fortunate to be able to live and work on the property that she grew up on. After completing a B.Com (Ag)FM at Lincoln University she spent 10 years in the fertiliser industry and 3 years in rural banking, and was awarded the New Zealand Young Rural Achiever Award and the Sir Ronald Trotter Gold Medal during this time. Jane is a JP, a crown-appointed member of the Veterinary Council of New Zealand, a member of the Global Farmer Roundtable and an independent director of the Red Meat Profit Partnership Board.
David’s enthusiasm in the sheep industry and the strength of the Perendale breed can only be described as a passion. His vision in 1972 of creating a genetic solution at Newhaven that would allow farmers throughout both the North and South Island to enjoy a breed that would constantly impress and perform time and time again has indeed been realised. David loves nothing more than to roam through the tussock country at Newhaven on his stock horse to view the Perendales in their natural environment (although he occasionally gets side tracked by hunting deer and fly fishing!)
Mike commenced his role at Newhaven in July 2018 following a wealth of experience in stock and pasture management in North Canterbury. Mike and his wife Brooke are enjoying being based in North Otago and enjoy dog trialling, hunting and fishing and anything that involves the great outdoors. Mike enjoys the challenge of running a large stud enterprise in a commercial environment and has taken on his involvement as block manager with interest and enthusiasm.
